Louise Barfield, Macon musician and international classical concert pianist, will be featured at Little Carnegie of the South, Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 5:00 PM. Miss Barfield, a Master’s Degree graduate from The Juilliard School in New York City and twice a Fulbright Scholar to Rome, Italy, has performed extensively in the United States and Europe, including Carnegie Recital Hall in New York City. Little Carnegie of the South is a non-profit concert hall and art gallery founded and directed by Louise Barfield. Celebrating fifteen years of performances and exhibits, the Little Carnegie of the South house was built in 1905 by the renowned Georgia architect, Neel Reid. Little Carnegie of the South is also a house museum featuring photography by Los Angeles based internationally known Fine Art Photographer, Logan White of Macon and paintings by Dr. Libby Bailey, recipient of the Governor’s Award for the Arts and Humanities, and Professor of Art History at Wesleyan College. Also, on display are five rare Steinway grand pianos ranging in age from 1857 to 1944. Miss Barfield will perform on the 1857 restored nine foot Steinway concert grand piano. The program will include works by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, and Liszt. Maestro Adrian Gnam, Symphony Orchestra Conductor, describes Louise Barfield as, “One of America’s finest pianists, possessing a marvelous sound, innate musicality, prodigious technique, and magical stage presence.” A reception will follow the concert.
